The present Proceedings include a selection of the talks and comments that were given at the workshop "Studying Migration Policies at the Interface between Empirical Research and Normative Analysis" in September 2018 in Bielefeld. The Introduction explains why there is a need to study migration policies across disciplines, includes a short note on the current literature, and provides a look back at the workshop. The papers, besides some methodological reflexions, mainly include work from the broad area of refugee studies and on deportation, each trying to combine normative and empirical perspectives.
