Durch Literatur, die Etablierung von Sportvereinen, archäologische und folkloristische Studien wurde der Kontrast zwischen Irland (keltisch) und Britannien (angelsächsisch) verdeutlicht. Nach Erlangen der Unabhängigkeit spielte das Keltische weiterhin eine bedeutende Rolle, und wurde durch schulische Erziehung und die Einbeziehung keltischer Motive in Denkmäler und Monumente verankert. Heute ist es allgegenwärtiger Bestandteil des Lebens, spielt jedoch in unterschiedlichen Bereichen unterschiedliche Rollen in Bezug auf kulturelle Identität. Das Keltische als Repräsentation kultureller Identität in Irland wird von unterschiedlichen Gruppen unterschiedlich beansprucht und eingesetzt und kann als integraler Bestandteil kultureller Identität in Irland betrachtet werden. <br/> | |

The contrast between Ireland (Celtic) and Britain (Anglo-Saxon) was emphasised by the use of literature, the establishment of sports associations, archaeology and folklore studies.
