The aim of this project (DFG LU 1942/2-1) was to collect corpus data and experimental psycholinguistic data on proverbs. The corpus data was compiled by Claudia Lückert (University of Münster, Germany), the experiment was conducted by Claudia Lückert (University of Münster, Germany) and Julie E. Boland (University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA) at the University of Michigan. The folder contains (a) the corpus data with frequency and familiarity data for 4,164 proverbs and a list of constituent words ranked by their strength of association with proverbs as a class, and (b) the experimental data with reading time latencies in milliseconds (self-paced reading task; moving window script), reaction times (cued recall), accuracy rates (cued recall), citation numbers (free recall), and relative position (free recall). The files include all responses from each participant, for target stimuli and for the fillers. No personal information about the 97 participants is revealed.
